I was working on this painting as tropical storm, "Debbie" was wreaking havoc outside by studio lanai on Anna Maria Island. I now can see how this painting was a precursor to the kind of process I have settled into in the 2016-2017 paintings. It depicts a process where there is an all out attempt to arrive at order from chaos. That is exactly how I ultimately find peace in an uncertain world. It is a way of taking action, but honoring as well as challenging, the demons within.
